First, you must ask yourself, "Are you visiting as devotee?" If one is to visit aiming to observe and participate in a prayer they must be prepared to wait hours on end. If this the case than that is not a problem in fact it is more than great. We highly reccommend that such people visit the Temple of Tuesday, Tuesday is considered a highly auspicious day, beware of the fact that you must be prepared to wait! Normal tourists may visit on any day!
DESCRIPTION:
The Siddhivinayak temple is undoubtedly one of the most visited and popular tourist attractions Mumbai has ever know. Considering that Mumbai is the spiritual hub of Asia, the temple is truly at the centre of this statememnt. Over 200 years old the temple has had many face lifts over the recent years however the original shrine remains the same. Inside the shrine sits the Holy Lord Ganesha. Ganesh(a) is one of the most loved and worshipped gods of the Indian Pantheon. The Lord Ganesha is easily identified through his Elephant Like head. Lord Ganesha is known to be the remover of all bad obstacles. He is also attributed as the patron of the arts and the sciences, deva of intellect and wisdom. The Siddhivinayak temple is a temple which specifically worships the lord Ganesha. When visiting, do beware of the immense traffic, pick out a specific time to visit. The lord Ganesha is also known at the God of Beginings, hence why not inaugerate your trip with a visit to this holy site!
PRICE INCLUDES:
Considering prices, for a basic visit into the temple of dreams there is no such fee. On particular days there may be a minimal fee for entry however this is only on a few rare occations. If one is to opt for an "aarti" which is a procession in which one offers flowers, sweets, and other such holy items. Depending on what one is such to offer prices vary. In front of the temple itself are numerous stalls which handle such products. VIP passes are existent when it comes to entry however these are not sold publicly so do not fall for any such scam!
DON'T FORGET:
Don't forget that Siddhivinayak is a very holy temple and there is a strict dress code within the temple, we advise all to wear trousers and possibly a full sleeve t-shirt. Photography is not prohibited within the temple so do not carry cameras within the temple. Such activity will be prosecuted.
OUR TIPS:
As stated before, the Siddhivinayak temple is one of the most crowded attractions not only within tourist yet locals that India has everseen. Hence it is very important to plan your visit to the Temple. Tuesday is the most beloved and more importantly most holy day to visit the temple however subsequently it is also the most crowded. Other days bear minimal crowd however this also largely depenedant on the timing, 4-8 is usually the most crowded time of the day.
